Pai Skincare’s Rosehip Oil on Acne Scarring

We all know that squeezing your pimples is a big no-no, but even when we try not to pick and pop, scars can happen. As someone struggling with the remnants of acne scarring, I’m always on the lookout for products that help lighten hyperpigmentation. I came across Pai Skincare’s Rosehip BioRegenerate Oil (SGD48) on Instagram. Its vibrant tangerine shade and minimalist frosted packaging caught my eye as I was swiping away. I’ve never heard of the UK-based brand but I did some good, old-fashioned Googling. What I found is that Pai Skincare was founded for sensitive and blemish-prone skin in mind. The result is a skincare line of products with ingredients that are effective, soothing, chemical and alcohol-free.

Pai’s Rosehip Oil is one of the brand’s bestsellers. It uses both the seed and fruit of the rosehip, which is why it’s such a concentrated dose. It has five times the amount of carotenoids (what gives it that bright orange colour) than the average rosehip oil. Besides that, the rave reviews online said it helped diminish acne scars while soothing dry skin.

Pai’s Rosehip Oil is actually my first facial oil. With combination-oily as my skin type, facial oils seem to be more suited to those with drier complexions. Surprisingly, the formula wasn’t what I expected. It was not heavy and the bright orange colour did not tint my face orange. It blended into the skin nicely and brought a nice dewy glow to my complexion.

After about a week of use, I noticed some differences; the smaller acne scars on my cheeks looked less noticeable, and the scars on my forehead lightened. The usual dry spots around my nose calmed down and my skin felt clearer. I wouldn’t say it’s a miracle-working oil, but it’s pretty close!

How to use

You can use the oil as a ‘serum’ under moisturizer: squeeze 2-3 drops over freshly washed, slightly damp skin and massage gently into the skin. Alternatively, I like blending a few drops with my moisturizer, or using it as a overnight mask.
