This Cult-Fave Cleanser Helps Clear Maskne and Clogged Pores

It’s been over a year since mask-wearing became a way of life around the world. And if you’re still struggling with maskne, well, you’re not alone. In case you’re still not aware, masks can worsen skin issues that already exist or cause new ones. Add in the perpetual heat and humidity in Singapore and you’ve got a petri dish for breakouts.
That is until I gave Dr. Barbara Sturm’s Enzyme Cleanser (SGD95) a go. Not only did it help clear up some of the breakouts on my cheeks, but my skin has also definitely felt a lot smoother since I’ve started using it.

Why we’re obsessed:
Everyone knows how important regular exfoliation is; it sloughs off dead skin cells, helps smoothen skin texture, fades dark spots and acne scars… The list of benefits is seemingly endless. Plus, it helps any products you apply afterwards to penetrate into your skin more effectively.
This is where the Enzyme Cleanser comes in. Unlike other exfoliating products, it is a two-in-one gentle cleanser and exfoliator formulated with Lipase and Subtilisin enzymes. Since enzymes enhance a particular chemical process, the enzymes in the cleanser work together to loosen the conjunctions between dead skin cells, removing dry and dead skin, makeup, pollution and clogged pores after a long day. Plus, it works great for normal to combination and oily skin types and can be used on rosacea, acne and even sensitive skin.
It’s been a month since I’ve started incorporating it into my skincare routine and you can clearly tell the difference. With maskne, what I’m mainly dealing with is acne on the lower part of the face—blackheads on my nose and whiteheads and bumpy skin on my chin and cheeks. It’s safe to say that since I started using the cleanser at least twice a week, blackheads are a thing of the past and my whiteheads are gradually disappearing.
I’m also a fan of how fun it makes cleansing; the ultra-fine powder activates into a soft foam when you add water to it. No more boring gel cleansers!
How to use:
Use this 2-3 times a week as part of your cleansing routine, or daily if you have oily skin, and watch how soft and smooth your skin will be after every wash.
