Sabrina Marican Shares Her Skin-Pampering Routine

When you’ve got a full plate to juggle—family and work commitments—it may be hard not to get caught up in the daily hustle. Just as your mind and body feel tired after a long day of work and meetings, so does your skin. Pampering it with a nourishing routine is a great way to not only give your skin a boost, but it’ll also give yourself a reprieve and some much-needed me-time.
We turn to Singaporean content creator Sabrina Marican for more on her beauty picks and pampering skincare routine.

Tell us more about yourself. What keeps you busy everyday?
I am based in Singapore and right now, I am working in healthcare—in a clinic that specialises in dementia and Alzheimer’s disease. On weekends, I focus on my content creation. I am a huge beauty and fashion enthusiast so I love trying out the latest beauty trends and products!
What is the best of your work?
I love that I get to experience different aspects of life in my work. For my daytime job, I love interacting with patients and their family members. Together with the doctor and my colleagues, we ensure they are well taken care of and their long-term care is managed well. In terms of content creation, I love trying out different skincare products and makeup looks, and seeing what works for me.
What is the most important piece of advice you have ever received to date?
My mom always told me: whoever you want to be, make sure you are a good person and never change who you are for anyone!

What is your earliest memory of beauty?
My mom with her Clinique blush and her red Estée Lauder lipstick!
How has your perception of beauty changed over the years?
Beauty has definitely become more inclusive! I have seen more women of colour being confident in their own skin with the right foundation shade (like me!). It also helps that we don’t have to mix different shades now to get the right concealer or lipstick shade for our skin tone.

Three makeup staples?
Concealer, brow pencil and lip balm!
How do you look after your skin?
My morning routine is pretty simple: I cleanse with Tatcha’s rice wash cleanser, then move on to Origins’ toner, Starskin’s celery serum, before applying a primer to prep for makeup.
At night, I like to use Dr. Barbara Sturm’s products for my routine: the Enzyme Cleanser, Balancing Toner and Hyaluronic Serum. I’ll also pamper my skin with a mask, depending on my mood. My favourites are Dr. Barbara Sturm’s Face Mask, Drunk Elephant’s F-Balm (SGD74) and Glamglow’s Youthmud.

How does self-care come into play in your beauty routine?
Whenever I feel stressed, I put on a mask and sleep it out! I do like to use a jade roller too, as a pick-me-up! To me, self-care is a device-free time when I do my skincare—making sure my face is moisturised and nourished.
What are your hopes for the year ahead?
I would love to be more present in the moment! And I hope more beauty brands will strive to be more inclusive and diverse.
