Meet Your New Favourite Serum: Delphini’s Anti-Pollution Serum

If you live in a city, you’re likely exposed to all types of pollution ― free radicals, UV exposure, cigarette and exhaust fumes, and even the blue light from our screens are all part of the problem. Pollution can wreak havoc on our complexions — particles and dust in the air can irritate skin and cause breakouts, not to mention cause free radical damage.

This is what the founders over at Thai beauty brand Delphini set out to combat with their debut product: the Intense Serum with Anti-Pollution Complex (SGD80).

We chat with Dr Anchalee Tassanakajon, brand consultant, researcher and biochemist at Chulalongkorn University, to gain insights into Delphini and what makes its anti-pollution serum different from those on the market.

Can you tell us more about Delphini? What can we expect from the brand?

Delphini was founded in July 2020 by a group of biochemists from Chulalongkorn University, one of the most renowned institutions in Thailand. With their passion for skincare, they were determined to develop a result-oriented skincare range, created with safe and effective ingredients suitable for all skin types. The Research and Development team took over a year inside and outside the laboratory to formulate the right combination of ingredients that will work best on the skin.

What inspired you to start the brand? Why start with the Anti-Pollution Complex?

The Anti-Pollution Complex was meticulously researched and developed to battle the effects of pollution on the skin. Many might not realise that pollution including dust, exhaust fumes and PM2.5, can damage the skin in many different ways, causing skin issues like premature ageing, dry skin, acne breakouts, clogged pores and hyperpigmentation. This is why we developed the Anti-Pollution Complex; it has key ingredients to restore and protect your skin from such skin troubles.

What makes Delphini Skincare’s anti-pollution serum different from those on the market?

Formulated with a mix of natural and bio-ingredients including hyaluronic acid, 10% niacinamide and Scutellaria baicalensis root extract (commonly known as Chinese skullcap or golden herb), Delphini’s Intense Serum is the first of its kind to file a patent in Thailand. It also has been proven to battle seven different skin problems caused by pollution, more than other skincare products that received similar patents.

How can Delphini’s Intense Serum help in anyone’s skincare routine?

We would like to call think of our serum as the ‘serum for the new normal’. Not only does the Intense Serum protect the skin from pollution, but it also works great against maskne. With everyone wearing masks and it is inevitable that breakouts can occur, but we’ve had consumers telling us that they no longer face acne problems caused by wearing masks all day long when they apply our serum consistently.

What’s next for Delphini? Can we expect new product launches?

We’re planning to launch two new products this year: an anti-inflammatory cream specially formulated for acne scars by mid-2021 to celebrate our brand’s first-year anniversary, as well as a hydrating serum by the end of the year. Stay tuned for more!
