The Best Mascaras for Asian Lashes

We all know the struggle of trying to get our short, straight and droopy lashes to stay curled the whole day. It’s no surprise that many Asian women have opted for eyelash extensions. But as long-lasting as they are (and waking up to full lashes every day is definitely a pro), eyelash extensions are often high-maintenance. You must be careful when applying makeup, removing makeup, washing your face… So what’s a good alternative to having long and full lashes without the maintenance? The answer would be high-performance mascaras. 

If you’re of East Asian descent, chances are your lashes are thinner, shorter and straight. This requires a rather specific type of mascara: one that doesn’t weigh your lashes down and holds the curl throughout the day, and also in a waterproof formula so as not to smudge under your eyes (which happens a lot in humid climates). Look out for a volumising formula for a fuller, more fanned-out look. You should also choose one with a smaller wand applicator to reach the tinier lashes along the corners of your eyes. 

For droopy lashes, remember to include curling your lashes before applying mascara. Start as close to the roots as possible and slowly move towards the ends of your lashes for a more natural curl. A mascara with a curved applicator would be more helpful in giving straight lashes a lift.
