Krystal Oh Shares Makeup Tips & The Pink Eyeshadow Look

Korean-American content creator Krystal Oh shares insights on makeup-outfit coordination, her go-to beauty look, and her tried-and-true makeup tips.

Nothing says springtime like pink eyeshadow. With the right shade and application, pink eyeshadow can be surprisingly versatile, ranging from soft, naturally-flushed looks to full-on romantic ones. And Korean-American content creator Krystal Oh (@kryxsoo) has the look down pat.

The 21-year-old is a cosmetology student, and the creative brains behind fashion and accessories brand Me, Mine Brand, which she founded just this year.

With combination skin type, Krystal makes sure to use products that hydrate but won’t cause excess sebum: “I like to start with a light cleanser in the morning. My current favourite is Chanel’s Le Lait Anti-Pollution Cleansing Milk. Then I use a toner, serums, moisturiser and sunscreen to finish off my skincare before I put on any makeup.”

When asked to share makeup tips, she said that years of experimenting with makeup has allowed her to discover which products work best for her. “I like to use a smoothing or blurring primer around my nose, which helps keep my foundation in place all day. I also used to avoid setting powder because it made my skin dry, but now I can’t go anywhere without it — it makes my skin look so smooth and soft!”

“Another tip I can share is especially helpful for those with really short lashes, like me. Heat up an eyelash curler for a second or two using a lighter before you use it. It’s rather like using a heated iron on your lashes and many Korean makeup artists use this method,” says Krystal. “I’ll also use a fibre mascara before going in with mascara to lengthen my lashes. The Etude House Dr. Mascara Fixer is great; I don’t have to wear falsies everyday anymore.”

As for her signature beauty look, Krystal’s love for glitter really shines through: “My go-to look is definitely a glittery pink look. Makeup just isn’t complete without glitter. I’ve also been obsessed with pink since I was a kid and I love experimenting with different shades of pink. Half of my palettes and lipsticks are pink!”

“I do like to switch up my makeup looks, depending on what I am wearing, the weather, and the occasion. I like to go with warm colours in the spring and fall and more cool-toned colours in the summer and winter.”
