Actress Constance Lau Shares Post-Filming Beauty Tips

You might recognise Constance Lau from her role as Celine Lim—aka Radio1Asia—in the rom-com Crazy Rich Asians. Since then, it has been a whirlwind of projects for the Singaporean actress, who graduated from Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts with a diploma in Theatre. She landed her first leading role in local drama Lion Mums season 3 as the new principal, Ms Grace Chiang, before going on to act in another local series, TiTouDau.
We chat with Constance as she catches us up on her latest projects, the most valuable professional lesson she can impart and her favourite beauty products to use after a long day of filming. Scroll ahead for more.

What sparked your interest in acting?
I would say it was a combination of growing up watching TVB dramas every night with my parents and eventually joining the drama club in school.
Can you share what projects you are working on right now?
I’m currently working on Lion Mums season 4 and I’ve just wrapped a short film that touches on non-verbal communication—I’m really excited for this!
What is the most valuable professional lesson you have learned?
I’ve learnt how to adapt to situations because I can’t change people nor things.
What does a typical day in your life look like?
In the last few months, I’m always up before the sun rises. After a refreshing shower, I’ll whip up a quick breakfast to brace myself for a 12-hour shoot. If I’m too lazy, I’ll have the breakfast provided on set.

How has your perception of beauty changed through the years?
Over time, I’ve learnt that less is more when it comes to beauty; and to embrace my beauty and be comfortable in my own skin.
Talk us through your favourite beauty products and your typical beauty ritual.
I always start with sunscreen and my current favourite is the Shiseido sunscreen because it’s lightweight and acts as a base for any makeup I’ll be putting on after.
After a long day of filming and shoots, I use Dr Jart’s Cicapair or Ceramidin mask to calm and hydrate my skin. If I have consecutive filming days, I’ll go in with the Babor Algae ampoule serum to soothe and hydrate as well. Then I’ll finish off my skincare regimen with face cream. I’m currently using the Tom Ford Crème Concentrate.
Since I have shoots quite often, I’ll use Shiseido’s Sublimic Wonder Shield to prep and protect my hair from heat damage.

What’s one beauty tip or routine that’s really important for an actress?
Double cleansing! It’s extremely important, especially after a full day of wearing makeup. My current go-to is Clarins’ Anti-Pollution Cleansing Milk.
What is your favourite beauty activity to treat yourself?
A facial or a massage! It’s a helpful aid in encouraging the flow of qi in the body.
What are your goals in the future?
Something is brewing but it’s still in its infancy stage, I’ll have to fill you in at a later date!
You’ve worked in many segments of the industry: hosting, commercials, radio, TV and a Hollywood movie—what else are you looking forward to trying?
I love going to different places in search of good food so hopefully, perhaps as a host for a food or travel show when the borders open!
