The Effortless Self-Care Ritual with the Founders of Glow Recipe
Glow Recipe founders, Christine Chang and Sarah Lee, share with BEAUBIT their tips for an effortless self-care ritual.

Glow Recipe is beloved for its fun, fruit-powered skincare. Originally starting out as an online marketplace curating K-beauty brands and skincare education for the American market, the brand has now grown into a cult-favourite. “Glow Recipe Skincare was born three years ago as we wanted to combine the latest technologies from South Korea with an easy, sensorial, results-driven approach,” says co-founder Sarah Lee.
Read on to find out more on how to get the most out of your skincare routine, tips for at-home pamper sessions, and what’s next for the brand.

“Our mission at Glow Recipe has always been to make skincare effective, easy and fun — it shouldn’t have to be a chore but one of the most enjoyable self-care moments of your day.”

Glow Recipe: Fun, fruit-powered skincare
The pleasures of skincare lie in the ritual of it: applying products, waiting for each layer to sink in, and the meditative aspect of working one’s way through the steps. It’s a great way to practice self-care; to take time for yourself and help alleviate some of the day’s stresses.
So, we asked the founders what was their favourite beauty activity to indulge in. “We love carving out time to do our skincare every day and finding ways to elevate our daily routine into a self-care moment,” says Christine Chang, the other half of the Korean beauty brand. “One of our favourite ways is to use a cleansing balm. Take a scoop, work the formula between your fingers and spend more time on areas that need more makeup removal, like the eye and lip area. Since oils are so emollient, doing a gentle facial massage during the cleansing step, or even using a gua sha tool is a great way to combine at-home care with a critical step in your skincare routine.”
As for getting the most out of our skincare routine, Sarah says to always pat your skincare in to aid absorption. “It goes back to the skincare philosophy of Korean women being as gentle as possible. Tugging, pulling at the skin and fast movements cause stress on the skin and over time, it can cause micro-tears and wrinkles. You can pat toners, serums, and moisturizers into the skin as it also minimizes downtime between steps to avoid waiting for the product to dry. Patting helps drive the product deeper into skin’s layers and your skin is plumped with hydration from within.“
What’s next for this ever-growing brand? “We are so excited for what’s coming next for our business,” says Sarah. “New innovations, new categories, unexpected releases, virtual activations, and many more are on the pipeline. We are always looking for the next superfruit ingredient and product, as well as finding more ways to expand our business so that more customers are able to enjoy Glow Recipe.”
