Alyce Tran: Less is Truly More
Alyce Tran, co-founder of affordable luxe accessories brand The Daily Edited, shares her minimalist approach to beauty.
Many preach the value of “less is more,” but Alyce Tran (@alyce_tran) is truly living it.
The former attorney left her corporate law career to pursue her monogrammed lifestyle accessories line full-time, along with co-founder Tania Liu. Monogrammed planners, personalised phone cases, and clear travel cases for beauty lovers form the foundation of her label, The Daily Edited (@thedailyedited). Affordable yet refined, TDE has developed a strong online following. The brand’s signature pastel hues and playful shapes reflect Alyce’s own personal style.
As for her beauty routine, her “less-is-more” approach really shines through: “I have zero skill in applying makeup. I find it funny when people say they’re into my “natural look” because I’m so bad at applying makeup! I believe in great skin, which means you don’t have to wear so much makeup.”
One of her current favourite beauty products? Westman Atelier’s Baby Cheeks Blush Sticks (SGD80), a multi-purpose product that can be used on the lids, cheek and lips.
Another thing Alyce has taught us is that there’s no harm in going to the dermatologist. “Before I met James Vivian [the dermatologist], I didn’t realise how congested and textured my skin was until he started treating my skin (with facials, genesis laser, extractions, et cetera),” says Alyce. “When it started turning around, I was like, what have I been doing most of my adult life?” Her skincare routine now consists of a simple cleanser, serum, moisturizer and eye cream.
Being a career woman has also taught her how to look good even when she’s strapped for time. “I love a good active cleanser—I think keeping your skin clean and hydrated is key when you’re on the go.”

Being in the business of personalised materials, we asked Alyce what her thoughts are on the future of personalisation for beauty. “I think consumers are going to want to see more personalisation moving forward, not just in terms of product. There does seem to be a lot of personalisation in the beauty space already; there are so many brands offering custom makeup, skincare and even perfume!” says the TDE co-founder.
With the current situation in mind, and most people staying in their homes, Alyce hopes to keep TDE’s content fresh and in line with the experience customers are having at the moment. “We’re a primarily digital business, so we’ve created content around staying at home, ordering from us from your couch… We’re also setting up the ability for customers to make a FaceTime appointment with our sales associates, to talk through any questions they have about our products face-to-face,” says Alyce. “This is on top of our email, live chat, Instagram Direct Messaging and Facebook service for customers.”
What is next for TDE?
“After the situation gets better, we hope to continue growing our business at the pace we were on!”
