6 Products to Make Drifting Off Easy

Image via @jiyoungkim6364

Warm milk, lullabies, counting sheep — there are so many ways people have devised to fall asleep. Sleeping well is incredibly important to your health as an adult. While the average adult should get between seven and eight hours of sleep daily, only 48 per cent of Singaporean adults do. Sleep may not come naturally to some of us, but developing a routine or using some products might help. While we can’t guarantee they’ll cure you of insomnia, the products ahead are designed for maximum relaxation and comfort. Keep reading, and see if these six products might help you drift off into dreamland.

1. Sleep Mask

Slip Sleep Mask, SGD80

Sleep masks can help virtually anyone catch some forty winks. Besides blocking out ambient light, some sleep masks, like the silk Sleep Mask from Slip (SGD80), can help protect the sensitive area around your eyes. Sleeping without a mask can stretch the skin around your eyes as your face comes into contact with your pillow.

2. Aromatic Diffuser

This Works Scent Well Portable Diffuser, SGD67

Essential oils have been known to help with insomnia, particularly lavender oil. Lavender has been scientifically proven to soothe and de-stress. Just fill up a diffuser with water, add a few drops of lavender essential oil, and wait for your room to start smelling like a luxurious spa. We like the This Works’ chic diffuser (SGD67); not only is it Instagrammable, it’s small enough to fit on anyone’s nightstand.

3. Lavender Body Lotion

Lush Sleepy Body Lotion, SGD54

We’ve heard so many good reviews about Lush’s Sleepy Body Lotion (SGD54). The dreamy lavender-scented lotion contains all good ingredients: oatmeal infusion, lavender oil, tonka absolute, ylang ylang and jojoba oil. Work the lotion onto your hands, arms and legs at least 10 minutes before your bedtime and let it sink into your skin.

4. Pillow Spray

This Works Love Sleep Pillow Spray, SGD40

This Works’ Sleep Plus Pillow Spray (SGD48) has quickly become a cult-favourite. The award-winning spritz loaded with lavender, vetiver and wild chamomile has rave reviews for its ability to calm insomniacs into a deep and restful slumber. And the brand has released a Valentine’s Day edition: the Love Sleep Pillow Spray (SGD40). A combination of ylang ylang and patchouli essential oils promotes more restorative sleep while helping you get in the mood to reconnect with your partner. Shake well and spray onto your pillow for a good night’s rest.

5. Supplements

Olly Restful Sleep, SGD38.90

Tasty supplements that drive away insomnia? These melatonin gummies, with L-theanine, chamomile and lemon balm, help boost your natural sleep hormone, making it easier for you to fall asleep. Did I mention that they taste like blackberries?

6. Herbal Tea

T2 Sleep Tight Loose Leaf Tea, SGD17

If you’re not big on supplements, you can also try tea. Now you’re probably thinking it’s counterintuitive since tea has caffeine and you’ll be up awake all night after that. But T2’s Sleep Tight tisane (SGD17) is the perfect pre-bedtime drink, with a combination of lemon balm (a herb known for easing stress), lavender, jasmine blossoms and rose petals. Just steep a bag in hot water for about 3 to 5 minutes and your brew is ready.
