4 Ways to Glow Up While WFH

Staying in sweats all day, air-conditioning set to your perfect temperature—for some, working from home sounds like a dream. To others, however, the thought of staying at home all day and having work meetings over Zoom brings on a different level of anxiety.

If you’re looking for some inspiration to feel your best while spending time indoors, here are some ways you can make use of your downtime at home to “glow up”—whether it’s trying new makeup tips to look better on camera, or giving your skin some round the clock TLC.

A little concealer and powder goes a long way

Your eyes are often the first thing that people notice, and they can look bad on camera. Take the time to conceal dark under-eyes and any other problem areas with concealer. To cover any pigmentation, redness or blemishes, go with your usual shade; opt for a slightly lighter shade for your under-eye area to brighten your overall appearance.

Want to look like you applied an Instagram filter over your face? Go in with a finely-milled setting powder. Dust off the T-Zone to reduce the appearance of shine but leave the high points of the face free of powder to bounce off light and give the appearance of healthy, glowing skin.

Look fresh-faced with blush and blonzer

Screens can make you look grey and saturated (read: pale and tired-looking), which is where blush and bronzer come in handy. Be a little more generous with your blush and do a soft contour to give some dimension back to your face.

Don’t forget your skincare routine

Just because you’re at home and wearing less makeup doesn’t mean you should forget your skincare routine. If anything, you should be taking this time to nourish, pamper and get your skin back on track (especially if maskne has struck!). Make sure you regularly cleanse your skin, apply a potent serum and moisturise your skin.

Besides, staying home all day probably means you’re spending a lot more time in front of your phones and laptops. Blue light emission has been thought to cause free radicals, oxidative stress and premature ageing in the skin, so it’s more important than ever to protect your skin with products that are full of antioxidants.

Skincare is self-care

Feeling anxious or stressed with the additional time spent at home? Then it might be time to kick back and indulge yourself with a face mask or two, and your favourite Netflix show at the moment. Have dry skin? Treat yourself with a pampering face oil massage and a jade roller. Prone to breakouts? Slather on a good clay-based mask to clear dead skin cells and treat blemishes.

When you look after your skin, you’ll naturally glow.
